Portezuelo del Cajón Pass or Hito Cajón is a crossing for people and vehicles between the Republic of Chile and the Republic of Bolivia. On the Chilean side it belongs to the Antofagasta Region, and on the Bolivian side to the Oruro Department. The nearest police station is the San Pedro de Atacama sub-station, 45 km away. The pass sits at 4,480 m.a.s.l., opening hours run from 08:00 to 23:00, and all types of customs procedures are allowed.
In August 2017, a new border complex came into operation, covering 750 square metres and built with an investment of more than 779 million pesos. It can handle four medium-sized buses and three private vehicles at the same time, allowing around 250 to 300 people a day to be processed along this international corridor.
