Monument Dakar

The creation of the Dakar monument in Uyuni 2014 has become a symbol of the salt desert and an obligatory stop for tourists every year, it is also a great economic movement, since the villagers take advantage to sell their salt souvenirs with the Dakar symbol that are unique in the world. According to Bolivia's vice ministry of tourism, in 2016 Uyuni received more than 300,000 foreign visitors, 20% more than in previous years. Peruvian sand dunes give way to Bolivian salt in a unique competition in the world.
