Italia Perdida (lost Italy)

Place

Italia Perdida is a geological formation, located in southwestern Bolivia, in the Nor Lípez Province of the Department of Potosí. The nearest town is the village of Mallcu Villamar.

According to legend, the first visitor to these places was an Italian who got lost in the Bolivian desert, failed to find his way back and died. This is why it owes its name.
