Southwest of Bolivia, in the Potosí Department. It is the capital of the Antonio Quijarro Province.
It is located at an altitude ranging from 3,665 to more than 5,000 meters above sea level.

Very intense almost all the year. Winds speed can reach up to 60 miles per hour ( and more). Very dry winds predominate.
Joya Andina Airport located northwest of the city of Uyuni. Opened on July 11, 2011. Currently Amaszonas, Transporte Aéreo Militar and Boliviana de Aviación airlines offer regular flights to and from Sucre, La Paz, Rurrenabaque and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The Airport features a 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) long and 45 metres (148 ft) wide paved runway, making it the airport with the second longest runway in Bolivia.
